Tony Robbins is one of those classic characters that I'll just have to meet and interview in person some time soon ;-)  He has been my virtual mentor for Years at this point!  His fired-up, style of making his point winds me up and gets me going!  I can feel the passion when he speaks and I use these moments to recognize my personal passions as well.  I certainly recommend his material.  Below are 2 questions I have picked up that he re-iterates time and time again in his body of work.

1. What will I focus on?

What do you focus on?  The negative or the positive.  Because simply put: it will be what you feel.  For example, have you sat in your car thinking about something horrible that is going to happen, or laid in your bed just imagining a challenge you are going to deal with, or spent any amount of time pondering the pain you will feel if something bad happens.  Why even focus on that?  There is a chance that these bad things will never even happen!  Then you have spent unnecessary time and energy worrying and creating pain for yourself.  And think about it, even if that bad thing does happen, why spend extra time, going overtime, and creating worry about it now?  Why force yourself to suffer twice?

I loved the way Tony Robbins candidly put it when he says that people waste too much of their time feeling bad about things that never happen.  So stop worrying unnecessarily and choose what you want to focus on.  It's ok if feelings pop up in your mind and heart, recognize them, and let them pass.  Then intentionally decide what you want to focus on and FOCUS!

2. What does ________ mean to Me?

Tony Robbins gives a deep, thought provoking example for this one.  He brings up the death of a parent.  Is it really the death of your mother or father that is giving you pain, or is it really the meaning you associate with this event?  I am blessed to have never lost a parent, but I can feel this example!  When sad, unspeakable things occur, we need a way to be able to push through!  Deciding on what any event means to You is the way You can choose to move forward with an Idea and a Mindset that Works For You!  Choose a Mindset that creates positivity!  Make it simple and straightforward!
