Why?
The cause, the reason, the Purpose for which one takes action...or not
“He who has a Why to live for can bear almost any how.” Friedrich Nietzsche
Let’s take a moment to address why we spell Lyfe Goals International with a ‘y’ in the word life. In Life there is always a reason Why. While setting your goals it is important to remember Why you want to achieve such things. When we lead our students through education courses to help them in goal setting , we want to know them to know why they have such goals so that they are more likely to achieve those goals. Are your goals to help yourself, your family, and strengthen humanity or are your goals detrimental or only materialistic? Lyfe Goals International is an organization based on providing education, motivation, and inspiration to individuals so that we all may learn the value of our individual lives, we may realize our purpose, and go on the journey to be ALL that we can be! So, when you see the y in life, be motivated, be inspired, know that you will be educated. Understand your own personal why...why do you want to achieve the things you have in mind?...
Darren Hardy, huge influencer of personal success knowledge and writer of the awesome book The Compound Effect calls this your “ Why power”, “Forget about willpower, it’s time for Why power!”. If you strive to achieve your goals by only using your willpower you will most likely get burnt out. Will power is finite. We need more than willpower, Why power may be the ammunition you need that shoots through your heart and keeps you motivated to achieve your goal.
What real things in your life touch your heart and motivate you to be better? What is it that will keep you consistent even when times get rough? What is moving you to do things differently? Why must you be better? When life gets tough and it begins to rain and pour all around you? What will motivate you to push through the storm?
When answering the question “Why” you should focus on giving yourself emotionally charged reasons to accomplish your goals. Having emotion behind achieving why you must achieve a goal is crucial. No human being wants to feel like they are just doing something for nothing! Even Worse we never want to feel like we are doing something just because someone else says so. The best motivation comes from within! You have to convince yourself by telling yourself Why you must achieve your goals.
“Until the question Why is answered there can never be Personal, Corporate, or National Fulfillment” Myles Monroe (The Power Of Purpose | Azusa | 1990)
